Learning cities and the COVID-19 recovery: webinar summary

UBDC’s Professor Catherine Lido has produced a summary on the recent UNESCO/PASCAL Observatory webinar she moderated on 'Learning Cities’ COVID-19 recovery: from research to practice - The challenge of measurement, planning and evaluation’.

This second event in the ‘Learning cities’ COVID-19 recovery’ series focussed on the challenges of planning learning initiatives, measuring their effectiveness and evaluating learning outcomes – particularly concerning distance learning, which has overtaken more formal, in-person learning engagement during the current pandemic.

Catherine leads our Educational Disadvantage and Place research, which looks at learning engagement, from primary school through to higher education and employment. In her report on the webinar, she highlights the key role that UBDC plays in the learning cities dialogue and sharing knowledge on how best to measure and capture this, particularly as learning moves increasingly online due to COVID-19.

You can also watch a recording of the webinar on YouTube.

The next webinar in the series will take place on Wednesday 21 October and is on ‘The challenge of Education for Sustainable Development’. You can find out more about the upcoming events and register on the PASCAL Observatory website.
