Social Science Making a Difference
The Social Science Making a Difference event in the Scottish Parliament on 18th March brought together more than 100 people from a variety of organisations working with and benefiting from social science research and academic researchers from the Universities of Glasgow and Edinburgh.
The Urban Big Data Centre was one of 11 projects and centres that were on display, with the opportunity to meet a range of UBDC staff: Associate Director, Professor Nick Bailey, Co-I, Professor Adrian Bowman, Scientific Computing Officer, Michael Comerford, and Business and Communications Officer, Hana Ros.
The centres featured provided a snapshot of research conducted within the two institutions addressing societal challenges. Both universities are keen to develop innovative collaborations between researchers and colleagues outside the higher education sector to increase capacity, encourage the use of evidence and deliver benefit to society. More information on the event and the centres featured can be accessed in the event handout (PDF 5.9MB).
