The Postdoctoral Research Associate in Transport Modelling and Informatics will be responsible for delivering high-impact research in transportation modelling in the Urban Big Data Centre (UBDC), an Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) infrastructure investment led by the University of Glasgow in partnership with the Universities of Edinburgh, Cambridge, Reading, Bristol, Sheffield and Illinois-Chicago. The Centre’s work focuses on the science of urban data and informatics, for data-driven approaches to addressing complex urban challenges. This position will help develop the centre’s research agenda on travel behaviour and transport operations using novel sources of data.
A PhD in transport studies (planning, engineering, economics, geography), computer science, GIScience or related disciplines is required. The ideal candidate will have specialist knowledge of transport planning and operations problems, methods, and the policy agenda surrounding these issues. The position will provide the opportunity to learn about new forms of data and the methods needed for information retrieval and analytics. The candidate will be expected to work with an interdisciplinary group of transport researchers in urban studies and engineering. The successful candidate will have a track record of peer-reviewed research publications and will be expected to produce high-impact research publications. The postdoctoral associate will also contribute to the building of innovative data products supporting UBDC’s data infrastructure and to the centre’s training and capacity-building programme.
