We are now hiring two Scientific Computing Officers (SCO) to work at the UBDC in Glasgow on a full-time basis. Both SCO roles will be responsible for delivering a range of information management and analytical services for the Urban Big Data Centre, a national Data Service funded by the Economic and Social Research Council.

Scientific Computing Officer - Data Services (Ref 012187)

The Scientific Computing Officer - Data Services post holder will be required to work with external users of the Centre's data services and assist with their data management and programming needs. Skills required include: development, maintenance, and testing of systems and services for confidential data access, data integration and linkage, database management and access, web service development, data curation and cleaning, and related data management and programming services.

Scientific Computing Officer - Research Data Scientist (Ref 012188)

The Scientific Computing Officer - Research Data Scientist post holder will be required to work with Centre staff and affiliates to assist with their data analytics needs, with statistical programming, machine learning, text and social media analytics, and information retrieval. Skills required include: information retrieval and information extraction, the setup of systems and services for confidential data access, data integration and record linkage, database management and access, web service development, data curation and cleaning, and related data management and programming services.
