What are the advantages derived from the use of geographic information in social and environmental applications?
Which sectors of society benefit from the use of geographical information systems (GIS) and which sectors are potential employers? What is the current state and future trends of GIS applications? The answer to these and other questions is the basis for the development of a GIS initiation program developed under the European Union funded GEONATURA project in partnership with the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Portugal; TU Delft, Netherlands; and the University of Florence, Italy.
This one day workshop (Friday, 13th April 2018, 10:00 - 17:15) will feature invited speakers from UK academia, industry and government and is free of charge. UBDC Research Associate Katarzyna Sila-Nowicka will be speaking on 'Big Data in Transport Studies. Applications and geo-privacy'.
It is aimed at those with little or no background knowledge in GIS and also provides a good opportunity to network with the speakers, students and lecturers based in Scotland, Portugal, Italy and the Netherlands. Places are limited and you are encouraged to apply early if interested in attending.
More information and registration is available via Eventbrite.
