Join us at this free event, watch the innovative pitches and vote for who you want to win our Data Challenge 2017 People’s Choice award.
It’s the Urban Big Data Centre meets Dragons' Den! To decide who will win our first cycling Data Challenge - and as part of the ESRC Festival of Social Science - the UBDC is hosting a Demo Day where selected finalists will be invited to pitch their entry to the judging panel...and you!
Although there are many existing measures in place to increase cycling, we are challenging academics, businesses, charities, startups and data enthusiasts to use data from the cycling and running app Strava to develop innovative solutions to answer the question, how do we get more people cycling?
We’re providing the Strava data and are expecting entries to take the form of a tool, an app, a visualisation, a linked dataset, or a new piece of software. We’re looking for novel, innovative, interesting uses of Strava data that will encourage more people to cycle - either by direct use of a product or via a planning or policy tool that can be used by a public body or other organisation to encourage and support active travel.
Come to the Tontine Building on Thursday 9 November, watch the pitches, network with individuals interested in active travel, see the judging panel crown the winners, and help decide who takes home the People’s Choice prize for the best entry as voted for by the audience.
The full programme will appear here shortly.
