Bio
Yunbei is interested in improving the energy efficiency of domestic buildings, which would help the UK to meet its ‘net zero’ climate target. Her PhD project focuses on exploring the effectiveness and limitation of Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) regulations, the main tool for the UK government to incentive improvement in energy efficiency. This project is funded under SGSSS Supervisor-led Steers Studentship, with an emphasis on advanced quantitative methods. By applying machine learning, deep learning and hedonic models (spatial-temporal modelling), Yunbei will endeavour to answer the research question: ‘How and to what extent does the EPC rating (or EPC rating of neighbouring properties) affect house values?’
Prior to her PhD, with interest in the topic of climate change, she built an interactive website – UKCP18 NetCDF Viewer – to visualize and inform the climate projections data of the UK in her Master’s dissertation project.
