Dr David McArthur and Dr Jinhyun Hong from the Urban Big Data Centre will present at this UBDC research seminar.
The restrictions introduced by governments around the world to slow the spread of COVID19 led to a substantial rise in the level of home working. As workplaces have reopened, many workers have expressed a desire to work from home more often than the did before the pandemic. In this talk, we look at whether having a slow internet connection might limit people’s ability to increase their level of home working. We make use of a travel survey from the Puget Sound Regional Council as well as broadband speed data from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
David McArthur is Senior Lecturer in Transport Studies at the Urban Big Data Centre at the University of Glasgow. He has a background in regional science with an interest in active travel and using digital footprint data to make cities better.
