Ashwini is a PhD student associated with the Urban Big Data Centre and is funded by the Lord Kelvin Adam Smith Scholarship from 2014 – 2018.

Her PhD work is inter-disciplinary in nature and is supervised by Dr. Konstantinos Ampountolas in the School of Engineering, Dr. Ludger Evers in the School of Mathematics and Statistics, Prof. Vonu Thakuriah in the School of Social and Political Sciences, and Dr. Jinhyun Hong in the School of Social and Political Sciences. The focus of her PhD is on spatio-temporal methods of clustering for urban traffic networks using heterogeneous sources of data (e.g. loop detectors, GPS, etc.).

She previously earned a Diploma in Economics from the University of London in 2009, a B.Sc. Mathematics with Economics from the University of East Anglia in 2011, and a M.S. in Biostatistics from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities in 2014.
