Alison Heppenstall
Alison Heppenstall is a Professor of Geocomputation jointly appointed between the School of Political and Social Sciences and the MRC/CSO Social and Public Health Sciences Unit at the University of Glasgow.
Her interests are in the application of AI and machine learning approaches for social and spatial systems, with applied research experience in the development and linkage of novel methodologies for a variety of socio-economic applications including cities, health, retail analysis and crime.
A focus of her work is in the creation of urban digital twins using individual based modelling (agent-based modelling and microsimulation), along with uncertainty quantification and data assimilation for understanding the impacts of sustainability policies on populations.
