As a Data Scientist, Andy works on building clear, engaging ways to present and tell stories with data. He is responsible for the design and development of data visualisations, charts and dashboards to complement the Urban Big Data Centre’s research projects and data services.

Before joining UBDC in March 2022, Andy worked with a number of software organisations helping to build user interfaces to explore and analyse data. He is motivated by a growing public demand to make data more accessible, strongly believing that designing attractive data-driven interfaces is a crucial part of growing data literacy.

Motivated by an interest in the intersection between data science and design, Andy’s background combines communication, data science and software engineering with a specific focus on data visualisation. He completed his MSc in Computational and Data Journalism at Cardiff University, and he also holds an MA in English Literature from the University of Glasgow.
