Meet the team
Grace Gielink
Grace joined UBDC in 2023 as a Project Officer supporting research in Urban Sustainability and Participation. Her role comprises of general administration, monitoring of project assignments and budgets, supporting team members with research tasks and communications, and liaising with international project partners.
Grace has an MSc in Architectural Conservation from the University of Edinburgh and previously worked with non-profit organisations in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Glasgow to support programming and public engagement around traditional building repairs and maintenance. She also has hands-on experience in traditional building trades, primarily masonry, wood window repairs, and basic carpentry.
Grace received a BA in Political Science from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio where she first began to explore her interest in how local politics and community action influence a city’s built environment. In her role at UBDC, she is grateful for the opportunity to learn about cities from a new perspective with exposure to the international work of the projects here.
