Ignacio Perez Karich
Ignacio is a Research Associate at the Urban Big Data Centre, where he conducts cutting-edge research on Digital Footprint Data and Urban Governance. Prior to joining UBDC, he earned his DPhil in Geography from the University of Oxford, where he analysed the implementation of Big Data in Public Transport in Santiago de Chile.
At UBDC, Ignacio is conducting research that aims to leverage digital footprints to inform public policy and governance decisions. His research interests include Critical Data Studies, Science and Technology Studies (STS), urban governance, transport, and the intersection between quantitative and qualitative methods.
Ignacio's previous research has focused on a range of topics, including informal settlements in Latin America, urban development, and smart cities. He is passionate about critically analysing the politics of urban expertise and the sociotechnical processes that underlie urban transformations. Ignacio is committed to advancing the field of urban data research and to developing innovative solutions to the complex present and future challenges of cities.
