Short Term Lets - Big Data and Policy

A new licensing scheme for short-term lets came into effect in Scotland on 1 October 2022. Through the scheme, the Scottish Government aims to 'ensure consistent safety standards while reinforcing the positive reputation of Scottish tourism and hospitality'. The change is also intended to address concerns raised by residents about the impact of short-term let properties on their local communities.

This conference was comprised of two sessions: the first looking at short-term lets using big data; while the second focussed on policy approaches and the regulation of short-term lets, within the broader context of reforms to the private rented sector in Scotland.

These follow-up blog posts reflect on the discussions held during this event.
