Data Scientist – Data Storytelling Engineer
Are you an experienced designer and developer of data visualisations, dashboards and online interfaces? Do you have a combination of excellent creative design, UI/UX development and information presentation skills? Are you capable of rapidly producing creative technical solutions that meet identified end user needs?
If you can answer yes to these questions, Urban Big Data Centre (UBDC) at the University of Glasgow encourages you to apply for its new role of Data Storytelling Engineer, part of its core Data Science team. The successful applicant will be responsible for developing data driven dashboards, interactive visualisations and other forms of immersive data storytelling that enhance the accessibility and impact of Centre outputs, analyses and indicators.
Funded by UKRI-ESRC, the Urban Big Data Centre promotes innovative research methods and the use of novel forms of data to improve social, economic and environmental well-being in cities. UBDC faces demand from a range of audiences for accessible intelligence on trends relating to mobility, housing and neighbourhoods, economic activity, education, skills and labour markets and social interaction.
As part of UBDC you will work with Centre researchers, data scientists and colleagues from partner organisations including local government and industry. You will draw on data resources, models and analytic outputs to produce interactive visual resources that meet a range of policy and operational requirements. Within UBDC’s driven, technically proficient and highly effective data team you will work individually and collaboratively, benefiting from a supportive and friendly environment with significant opportunities for personal professional development.
This post is funded for 2 years at the University of Glasgow Management, Professional and Administrative Grade level 7, £36,382 - £40,927 per annum.
